Our Women, Our StateThe Women’s Foundation of Oklahoma is the leading funder of change for women and girls in our state. We raise money to build an endowment that provides a reliable, permanent source of grants to invest in economic self-sufficiency for women and brighter futures for girls. Unlike other nonprofit organizations, the Women’s Foundation of Oklahoma is an endowed, component fund of a statewide community foundation, building agency capacity to accomplish systemic change because when women and girls prosper, communities thrive. Our ChallengeStatistics indicate that nationally, Oklahoma ranks among the bottom states for both per capita income and wages. The Institute for Women’s Policy Research ranks Oklahoma as the 48th overall worst state for women. Women in Oklahoma earn only 75 cents for every dollar men earn. Oklahoma has the 8th highest rate of teen pregnancy in the nation. Overcoming barriers and empowering women and girls to realize their potential is our challenge.
